Attention was also drown to the fact that the export of raw and prepared opium is prohibited in orrtain of the
territories.
The British Representative on the Committee proj esca that the Committee should submit to the Conferenoc for their consideration the following measurce sa to cxport, which arc in füroc in the British Possessione:-
1.
The export of opium, whether rat or prepared from tac or Eastern territorica in which smoking is still authorised,
As prohibited; the importation of opium into those territories bring strictly limited to the amount required for domestio consumption
2.
Opium which comes into the territorial waters of thosc territories, not for importation but in transit or on trans- shipment for another d. stination, is strictly limited and
controlled.
The Japanese Representative on his part proposed to the Committee the following suggestions:-
1.
The caport, import and transshipment of opium are
forbidden.
Nevertheless, they shall be authorised when the opium. is accompanied either by an import certificate äuly issued
by the competent authorities of one of the contracting States or by an official document guarante cing that the im ort is
legitimate.
